Book Club

Each month the avid readers of the Kirtland Congregation gather in the home of one of the members to engage in a casual book discussion. No gathering is complete without dessert, so the club makes sure there is a sweet treat to go along with the evening. The book club reads books by a variety of authors and genres. They are always open to book recommendations and all are welcome! The book club is not only an evening of book discussion, but also an opportunity to build relationships within our community. Please join us for our next discussion and dessert!

Next Book Club meeting:  August 6, 2018

Empty MansionsLocation:                                Cervi’s home

The book this month is Empty Mansions by Bill Dedman. At its heart is a reclusive heiress named Huguette Clark, a woman so secretive that, at the time of her death at age 104, no new photograph of her had been seen in decades. Though she owned palatial homes in California, New York, and Connecticut, why had she lived for twenty years in a simple hospital room, despite being in excellent health? Why were her valuables being sold off? Was she in control of her fortune, or controlled by those managing her money?
