Each month the avid readers of the Kirtland Congregation gather in the home of one of the members to engage in a casual book discussion. No gathering is complete without dessert, so the club makes sure there is a sweet treat to go along with the evening. The book club reads books by a variety of authors and genres. They are always open to book recommendations and all are welcome! The book club is not only an evening of book discussion, but also an opportunity to build relationships within our community. Please join us for our next discussion and dessert!
Next Book Club meeting: May 21 @ 7pm
Location: Erickson’s Home
The book this month is Small Great Things, by Jodi Picoult. Ruth Jefferson, a nurse with more than twenty years’ experience, begins a routine checkup on a newborn, only to be told a few minutes later that she’s been reassigned to another patient whose parents are white supremacists. They don’t want Ruth, who is African American, to touch their child. What begins is journey with incredible empathy, intelligence, and candor, that Jodi Picoult tackles race, privilege, prejudice, justice, and compassion — and doesn’t offer easy answers.
